There are various ranges of Santoni, these are the top range Fatte a mano tan sock. Many regard them better than Edward Green RTW, certainly better construction than Edward Green RTW. Appears to be handlasted, stacked heals, the welt is stitched to the outsole by hand. Don't know if the welt and upper are stitched to the feather by hand, and l don't know how the feather is created either. Hand antiqued and very nice leather quality too. One very unusal feature is the sole.....the soles have this gorgeous hill-like mound under the waste, it really adds the the artistry of the shoo alot. Completely in a different league to highend RTW English shoos (which are largely machine made), but the Fatte a Mano's are generally higher priced than Edward Green RTW too. Not quite the quality of a Vass, but certainly getting up there.

I love those shoes. I had been hoping to find them at the Santoni store in New York ever since seeing a picture of them a couple years ago, to no avail. Great choice, enjoy.

l get many on special order from Harrolds, and l also have a good friend (bought about 30 - 40 shoos off him, i'm his best customer) who travells abroad and sources shoos for me. Harrolds mainly has the more fashion forward orange sock models which are overpriced and not worth worrying about. lt's best to place a special order through Harrolds for the tan sock models.
You can also try getting Mantellassi Handmades through the Borrelli boutique. They had some stunning Norvogese constructed antiqued bugundy bluchers last season. Problem is l haven't been able to purchase any because they were all large sizes. They promise me they'll be getting smaller sizes this season. lf you're lucky, you may be able to get a nice pair for 30% off during their sales. Don't know if they special order. They have a nice pair of stunning Alligator RTW bluchers for $10,500 if your interested

Oh man, l just had my new Grenson Masterpieces arrive and i'm excited! A nice simple cognac elegant captoe oxford with mild antiquing. l thought they may have been alittle tight but they fit perfect. Time to celebrate. They are great shoos.
l'll make some comments comparing my new Santoni monks with the John Lobb Jermyn ll model later.
P.S: l don't wanna wear the monks. l'm too afraid to mess up the pretty soles.

Forgive my ignorance, I am beginning to suspect that I am out of my depth here but what precisely is 'wacking them in the freezer' as applied to shoes?
I passed the same shoe-shine stand for many many years and have always just had what I thought was the 'usual' shine technique.

Brads??? lsn't that a plural name for an American male(s)?
l like English heals and highly polished ltalian soles solely for cosmetic reasons. lt offers no practical benefit, but l just like the look. Having a heal capped entirely in rubber is much more practical but it just looks plain ugly. l would rather slip and slide in pretty heals and soles rather than have an ugly practical shoe. But, that's just me. l prefer looks and craftsmenship over practicality.
l often nail steal plates to the front of my shoes too. The extra wear at the front of a shoe is unsightly, so l opt for the steal plate....not a perfect and pretty solution but still better than unsightly wear at the toe.
