Good London Tailors

Hello I am trying to get a bespoke suit in London. I live in NYC, but am considering London because Corvato is very busy, Logsdail is kinda out of reach and others are not really that well made.

My Budget is 6500 MAX and i am a fan of Soft tailoring, but as long as it is soft and fitting i will love it. My suit will be Plain Navy.

I am Considering:
Maurice Sedwell
Graham Browne
TurnBull and Asser MTM

that is pretty much it. ANy recommendations or experiences would be great.
PS: I also plan to get 2 shirts are a separate budget ar 450-500 per shirt.

Re: Good London Tailors

Turnbull & Asser MTM is not soft tailoring. At that price, I would try one of the ex-Anderson & Sheppard cutters who visit New York

Ed De Boise of Steed - http://steed.co.uk/
Thomas Mahon of English Cut - http://www.englishcut.com/
Stephen Hitchcock - http://www.thesavilerowtailor.co.uk/

Their prices are within your stated budget.

Fadia Aoun of Brian Russell in Sackville Street is another option - http://www.esquire.co.uk/2009/05/the-bespoke-column-meet-the-tailor/

Re: Good London Tailors

Thank You.I am more for a Soft tailoring but clean, and i am willing to sacrifice softness for a good fit. Anybody recommend Maurice Sedwell Or Graham Browne? A lot of people say it is good, but i would need a review.

I believe this Fora had photos of a poorly fitted drape suit by Hitchcock. Still I am thinking about Steed or EC as the best.

Re: Good London Tailors

Maurice Sedwell has an excellent reputation but I have heard that the prices are amongst the highest on the Row. It is difficult to find examples of the firm's work on the net. David Taube (blog here - http://davidetaub.blogspot.co.uk/) was the head cutter but he has moved to Gieves & Hawkes. This article may be of interest - http://www.tuttofattoamano.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Maurice%20Sedwell

Re: Good London Tailors

Since i don't want to take up thread space with my stupid threads. I will do it here. I would like to pose a question. Is Savile Row still good and where do they still display quality workmanship? Most of the fine tailors are no longer in countries but spread out across them. You have Logsdail and Corvato in NYC and Italy has Caraceni and Brioni. So, Where does that leave Savile Row. Savile row might be one of the only concentrated tailor areas in the world (excluding Hong Kong.) It was/is a place for tailoring for the affluent and iunfluential. Different places for different things. Anderson and Sheppard was for Soft tailoring and Good Drape (ultra rare and only if you have multiple servants pressing it. ) Gieves and Hawkes was for Military as was Dege and skinner. Today, things have change, some have taken a nosedive and some are good. But who are the people and places that still make Savile Row a worthy Bespoke tailoring tradition?

Re: Good London Tailors

I am struggling to understand what you really want. Originally, you wanted a "soft tailor" and I gave you good suggestions. Now you seem to be interested in a military cut. Are you trolling us?

Re: Good London Tailors

There are several excellent tailors on the Row. They do not need to promote themselves on the internet fora or blogs. The last thing they want is a bunch of narcissistic, arrogant and ignorant iGents bothering them.
