I guess that's why they offer similar patterns in 12oz: http://www.hfw-huddersfield.co.uk/hardyminnis/asp/showroom2.asp?seco=H?cate=K?
Catcher in the Rye has Tattersall waistcoats described as very Ivy League in once scene.
This realy phoney guy wears one...
etc.
(Actually I must read that book again...)

Cruz,
The links are broken for the pics.
Irrespective of the AA illustration, I would caution against peak lapels on this, especially if your tailor doesnt know how to set the pattern perfectly, and anyway because i dont think it will look good. Even for a fogey this is a retro suit which means if you do it in a neo edwardian tongue and cheek way you will bridge the gap between looking like you unconsciously walked off a set from a Movie about London circa 1895 and like you aspired to that look.
I stick with my original vision of 3 button, 3 patch pockets, notch lapel, cuffs on the sleeve, maybe a nice crimson lining. Pants, hmm I would almost either go for a flat front stove pipe kind of look, maybe with closed seams and belt loops or an English back for braces (moderate height) with either forward or reverse pleats. Nice deep pleats for comfort. Trouser cuffs would be optional. I might even do a button fly in keeping with the antiquity.
I also have this cloth and am unsure what to do with it. I think that it is slightly boring for a sportcoat and probably too strong for me as a suit. i am actually thinking of having a raglan style coat made from it, but my mind will likely change eventually.
Cruz, after taking another look at the cloth, I'm thinking jacket, not suit. Maybe an English hacking jacket with angled pockets and a ticket pocket, side vents. Tally- ho!
I actually think a simple two piece suit in a peak lapel with two buttons would look nice.
Cruz,
Did you ever decide what to do with this cloth? A discussion is brewing about it again over at Styleforum. Edmorel can't figure out what to do with his bolt.
Here's what I'm doing: SB 2btn w/ fairly wide "parisian" lapels; sb vest w/ same lapels; 2 pleat trousers set up for suspenders ( hi back). Also a second pair of trousers in 18 oz wool twill- "winter white"- sort of a cream.
I'll even wear it to work for "casual friday".
