Getting this thread back on track: I think that Seersucker (& Madras) are probably best for shirts or shorts in England today.
Maybe that POV is unique to me.
I can just about see the perfect Seersucker Sack jacket being pulled off if you have the style to do it in England, but never a suit. Mine only ever appears at things like the odd country garden party or my great nephew's Christening last Summer. I have worn it around town but it just stood out far too much for me.
I think too that a Madras jacket would have to be exceptional (or its wearer would have to be exceptional) for it to work in England today.

Maybe I'm too conservative...
