Tailor made Chinos? Why not tailor made Jeans?

If you want the ultimate in precision engineered chinos, with crisp cloth and perfect khaki-green colour, you can go no wrong with Buzz Rickson's. But the baggy fit is not to everyone's liking and certainly cannot compete with the perfect 1960 era fit of J.Simons. You need hybrid of the two, that's my ideal.

And indeed, the only chance of getting these would be bespoke. But who buys bespoke chinos?

Don't feed the troll who can't even spell "sartorial" in his handle.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

No, it's a good one.

Apart from the waistband, what other considerations make RTW a no-go for you?  The seat?  The upper leg?  The rise?

And do pleats really help those with a fuller figure ?

Makes sense.

So MTM Chinos?  (The 'Bespoke' idea was slightly puckish, maybe...)

Didn't the humble Landsend once offer them in the US? At some point in the last decade?

I think I'll always resist big money on Chinos as one spilled cup of coffee, glass of red wine, etc., and they're dead.

i am 5 foot 7 yes. Sorry if it seems really unreasonable. I tried finding them at Macy's, Bergdoff, and other department stores. I should have looked harder. Also how many people wear khakis on the fora other than talk ivy.

Did you try those 'larger men's' shops - They must be online. 'High & Mighty' used to be a chain in London for the taller, heavier chap.

And if Khakis are your thing then you could always start a discussion on Talk Ivy about Classic American style for the larger man to see what info you can gather.

It don't cost.

Re: Where to get khakis and/or chinos

The 'Ivy League' look is the stylistically correct name for the classic American Brooks Bros tailoring style. It's the one you'll find in the books. 'Trad' is a recent internet thing blending the later 'Preppy' with original 'Ivy' classicism & a load of made-up misinformation. It's a far later lifestyle driven interpretation of classic American style for the i-Gents.

It suits the Ask Andy market so I've played with it, but in my professional opinion it is a worthless pastiche of the classic style. As soon as you call it 'Trad' you link yourself to internet trolling & all that trash.

'Ivy League' was the dominant mass market RTW American fashion of 1955-1965 ish.
