Never knew there were so many restrictions for white shirts.

He knows almost as little about white shirts as he knows about literature.

The white shirts thread reminds me we also need a pseud's corner for pronouncements like this

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

Manton is on a posting frenzy at the moment. Not sure if this is an attempt at humour - if it is, then is rather lame

'Complaints about the quality of my pics will be ignored. I urge chavs, fops, bottom feeders and n00bs to think carefully before you post in this thread. If you are wondering whether something is in good taste, it probably isn't. I encourage nay, foo, matt, dopey, gdl, vox (he is missed), concordia, t4, parker, will, baron, edmorel and some others whose names aren't occuring to me at the moment to comment with directness but without rancor. of course, there will be little need to say anything about my combos because they will always be impeccable.'

http://www.styleforum.net/t/309586/whnay-s-good-taste-thread#post_5631370

In other threads he gets reasonably well dressed posters - such as Old dog Old trix to post photos in search of his approval. The sensible advice would be ' 'Catch on to yourself. Have confidence in your own choices'. However many iGents get lured in posting alternative outfits in an attempt to curry favour. All very laughable or sad depending on you frame of mind.

I also get a feeling that some recent posters are getting banned for challenging the groupthink. Manton has throwaway lines about giving SF another go - as if his threads are somehow doing that forum a favour.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

My source, tells me there has been complaints that the place has lost its way since the revamp and the increased commercialisation. I am informed, that there has been much soul searching and racking of brain in the Star Chamber including one senior member probably their best, throwing in the towel. I believe he will be missed. wink

Desperate times, require desperate measures, therefore, several Senior Members have been promoted to the rank of 'Dubiously Honoured'. This allows them 'soft' moderation rights. Soft moderation rights allow these knights in shining armour to delete/edit the posts of others who post in the threads that they start.

This explains the recent frenzy of threads & posts by the main playa's

...but how long can this be sustained? They have lost a lot of 'mass'. Heavy handed moderation is not the solution and will likely drive dissenting but nonetheless interesting posters away.

My view is that the place is fucked and destined to go down the Ax Andy route. Which is a shame.
