It depends where you are.

In the middle of the desert its freezing at night.

Tasmania can be cold.

Canberra can be bloody freezing in winter.

Melbourne can be cold enough but I'd venture most train/tram commuting don't own an overcoat. Most people - car people - don't own an overcoat.

I was wondering what a Cardigan Jacket was? - A cardi?

I see people debating where Sack jacket/suit/coat name comes from - clearly one place is the SAC
