Talking about finishing the blog malarkey.
Would be a shame. He was different. Proper old school.

NJS is probably the pathfinder who reconfirms what we already know, that the internet is a cul-de-sac as regards effective communication.
It was partly having an old friend to stay with us for a fortnight that made me realize that blogging is no substitute for real human interaction. However, all the comments that I have received have made me change my mind like Rumpole at his retirement party. All I need now is an 'Uncle Tom' figure to ask whether I am going to keep the clock!
Good man.
Never really watched Rumpole, but - 'Are you going to keep the clock?'
I am also really pleased you have decided to continue, NJS. I always find your blog and books inspiring and informative.
While I take the point about spending too much time in this virtual world, speaking for myself I do find most people I meet in the ‘real’ world, friends and family included, unable to take any interest in the obscure things that exercise my mind. So this virtual environment is a bit of a haven.
Animals, on the other hand give me great pleasure and I was very sad to learn about the loss of your cat.
I now think blogs are like a message in a bottle where forums are more like going down the pub, and sitting round the table. Similar levels of violence too.
NJS, just discovered the blog because of this thread.
Thank you for translating your self into electrons so those of us in faraway lands may enjoy your musings.
I, for one, am happy with the new toy (your blog) and would throw an awful tantrum were it to disappear.
