They liked a drink those Apollo astronaughts.

Beat you to it Woofy. By all of 18 seconds. You're like the Buzz Aldrin to my Neil Armstrong.
If only we went to the moon these days.....
Having recently stood by a Saturn V rocket it was seriously impressive, the sheer experience of being sat in a very, very small capsule on the top of that being lifted off into space, those guys are in a different league to land lubbers like us. Unless of course, there are chaps in our midsts who have served time at her Majesty's pleasure as Harrier jump jet pilots on an air craft carrier.
""I am, and ever will be, a white-socks, pocket-protector, nerdy engineer," he said in February 2000, in a rare public appearance"
See ....white socks.
This really is a great thread actually, well done lads.
Agree. It's taken on a new slant since todays news too.
There's another couple of Astronaut Ivy threads out there in the vacuum of thread space in case anyone reading hasn't seen them and has an interest. I'm terrible at searching though... I've no patience for it.
Cigars, liquor, space flight and not a steroid muscle in sight. Truly the greatest.
They were very lean. Not only no steroid but also no weight lifting.
You can't lift weights in space... durrrr. x
How ironic that this thread gathers some interesting posts, then the man himself - Mr Armstrong says farewell..
RIP Mr Armstrong..

You really can see the late sixties skin look take shape with the military style short hair, and s/s shirts, and sta-prest. Have to say I warm to it more here.
My missus has links to both Neil Armstrong and Buzz, here dad is personnel friends with both.
He does yearly talks on space, his last one was about the mars rover, and is often in touch with NASA over ideas he has. I used to joke he was the first Mexican in space, but he's very knowledgable on this field.
Very sad the Neil Armstrong has passed, so when you see the moon, give him a wink.
