What is worse is that any American RTW items he/she buys will be much better quality than most English RTW stuff out on the High Street back in Blighty.
Mad. Even with import duty it is cheaper & more worth your while to buy American if you are English (Providing you like that U.S. style & know where to shop).

I suppose my point here is that we get ripped off at home with the price and quality of things.

Are you talking about the price of US goods sold in UK or actual English goods in UK that are too expensive/crapquality?

Mainly UK goods although most US import goods are cheaper if you go directly to the states.
J. Simons has so much that I can't personally find by myself on the Net that their business is secure tho'.
It's all about the knowledge & the contacts!
England is good at high end items maybe in terms of quality - but they are still expensive.
Most of the ordinary stuff is very overpriced and very poor quality...
An English cotton jumper will be nothing like even a cheap American one from Bean or Landsend. Not just the price but the quality of the finish, construction, sizing and even the quality of the cotton will be very, very different.

But it will have a "Made in England" tag which seems to give many forumites hardons.
With the current exchange rate (not looking to get better for Americans anytime soon) i'm dreading how expensive everything will be by years' end when I am in London town.

Even when the exchange rates were less advantageous, apparel shopping was the #1 sport of my UK freinds who lived in or visited the US. They would buy loads for family and freinds, then ship it back home. They love Filene's Basement.
