Thanks for the advice Shooey. My reasoning to go with a Dainite sole was that it appeared to me to be a more sound construction to merely sticking rubber to the leather sole? If not, and this will leave me more options in the future, then I will follow your advice.

Sammy - I think theres a whole issue with UK/ Arctic circle weather, snow, salt, etc, which us (marvelous) australians don't understand much. I think even shooey will admit this.

I have never found Topy to get slippery and its easy to chisel off when it gets a bit worn and slap another bit on. And its thin. I have slipped arse over tit on the marble floors of power with plain leather soles and its not a dignified look.

There may well be better choices for your "weather".

As we say here - Melbourne has weather - Queensland has climate.

Others like meister will tell you that Topys stop slipping.

I don't have any double blind studies.

And I know 2/5 of SFA about snow and salt and ice etc.
