Garish bespoke?

In another  forum i have read a  sentence about the iconic Cary Grant's "North by northwest suit (blue gray with very tiny glen urquhart design, white shirt gray tie): "boring".
Have you noticed that in our days many tailors and many customers enjoy by features rather gaudy and flamboyant?
I don't speak about cut,that is often excellent...but....
large and colored Windowpanes, big chalkstripes large like highways, pattern on pattern on pattern on pattern, strange things like unlined and  transparent sleeves...
What happened to good taste sobriety and understatement?

I think you should have both, sober and flamboyant for different moods and purposes. Strictly sober all the time is strictly very boring and does not work in several circumstances I can think of.

BTW 1 and 4 are quite lovely. The sciamat shoulders are fantastic as well.

Re: Garish bespoke?

I quite like the third one, there is a link between extroversion and masculinity, trouble is, other traits that go along with that are narcissism and a tendency to be sociopathic! I used to really like all the wild colours and patterns, but I think kind of like with being a musician, you learn when to throw it in and when not, don't give it all at one. Balance, subtly and taste are better I think, that full out shock and awe.
