Going out of Vass-ness

What is going on?  The reps seem to be dumping everything?

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

This shoe company never really got on my radar beyond a cursory glance. Let's have a closer look at some of the rats leaving the sinking ship, shall we?

This is a potentially lovely shoe, but those proportions for that price??? Note the thickness of the sole.

By what standard are these dress shoes and not work boots?

And isn't this chisel toe a wee bit pointed?

The shoe only a mother could love.

In short, QED.

They were always known for ladies shoes and for orthotics.

Vasses are for the masses

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

ed, I will have to take your word for it as that pair of Vass looks rather pointy to me.

I saw the Budapester in person at BG and it didn't look significantly different from photographs. If anything it was slightly clunkier than the photo Twin Six linked to.

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

Sure is a whole lotta Vass going on....the ones I like best are the models that everyone else seems to hate, the large toebox clunky Budapesters.  My hardon for the U-last has dissipated and now I'm all over the Budapest last

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

As someone who likes Vass shoes and who thinks very highly of Gabor Halmos, who represented Vass in the US with integrity, I feel badly about this unfortunate turn of events and wish them well for the future.

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

The Budapester is not the only model offered by Vass, and shoes in the U or F lasts easily match EG and the like in sleekness and styling. I know its "cool" to bash on Vass but at ~$700-$900 the shoes represent a solid value.

I agree with Marc that its unforunate that Vass shoes were not a success at BG.

They would have been better received had BG not tried to charge near-Kiton prices for them.

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

Surprised to see Vass unloading their shoes on ebay rather than just shipping back to Budapest.  Seems rather declasse.

Re: Going out of Vass-ness

Vass should have sold Aportnoy as many pairs as he wanted at the maximum price he was willing to pay. The resulting shoe porn threads would have been better advertising than anything attempted by the Vass reps.
