Re: My first Edward Green shoo + commentary on E.G v's G&G

l've gotta say...those Edward Green are so good that l can't stop looking at them. They look AMAZING!!! The burnishing antique is so good that l can't begin to tell ya how good it is. The shoes even have a slight arch support that goes completely with the arch of my foot, l am buzzing out with how good these are. The only other shoes that have arch supports that go along with my foot are my vintage 1950's pairs. Are the E.G worth 50% over the C&J Handgrade? YOu BET YOUR BOOTS THEY ARE!!! They are the best factory made shoo l have ever encountered, so now l can see what the fuss is all about.

Last night l polished them up with two coats of Saphir renovateur and two coats of Saphir tan wax and now they look beyond my wildest dreams, completely brilliant!!!

lmagine how good it would be if E.G did a hand welted shoe and charged 2k for a pair. That would be a perfect world. The problem is that uninformed customers wouldn't appreciate a hand welted shoe and E.G would lose business.

Shooman, I actually joined this forum to ask you about an insightful post you made. This, however, is not insightful, it is school girl giddiness over a shoe.

A shoe is after all a shoe, let's not fetishize something you shove your foot in. I do understand an appreciation for craftsmanship albeit not at your intensity. You must sit and stare at your car dumbfounded and awestruck by the sheer 'craftsmanship of it'.

I agree with you about enthusiasm, shooman. I am not bothered by your love for EG--I was just taken aback, despite not even knowing you.  Silly me!

My question, yes I will ask--I'll have to find your original post again.

Nice shoes or shoos btw, lovely colour.

There are times to be serious, but internet clothing forums is not one of them. l don't take things too seriously here and l do like to let my hair down and act the goat when the occasion calls for it. l love it when l act the goat and so do other people here. l laugh at me and so do others. lf you can't laugh at yourself then you are taking life too seriously and have ego issues, but not me Jack!

My interim question sir: will you be my efather?

Will you guide me? I wish to let my hair down, although that might have to wait since it is cut short.

How did you get to know so much about the shoos? The thread you made that brought me to this wretched place was about the longevity of glued shoe construction. I recall you were questioning the soundness of the common argument that welted shoes are by an order of magnitude longer lasting than modern glued constructions.

I recall, although don't quote me on this, that Ivy Jim responded in that thread and admitted to to prefer running shoes as it gave him greater agility whilst peeping--being the incorrigible peeping tom.

Re: My first Edward Green shoo + commentary on E.G v's G&G

Thank you, kind sir.

Sounds like a decent gluing is strong enough for two to three years of wear. So then why good year welt them at all? That is to say, why do so unless you're in a sartorially restrictive profession.

Also, can you explain more fully why a shoe can only survive three resolings...the welt gets 'mashed'?

I was unfamiliar with the term igent, but they do indeed sound like primitive beings. Is Ivy Jim the leader of the igents?

Are you mumbling about me? Decode your garbled speak, you schnitzel! Who is to know why you think about anything?

Those are legitimate questions for shooman, who is a hero of mine.

Haha, wait what? Did I just get called a stupido?

And he tells me to 'carry on'. Very well, you must be skilled in the art of negotiation. What sleight of hand; what was I talking about again? Oh definitely not how incompetent you seem, but about my shoe questions.
