''I hate ties and never wear one.
Mind you, I've never had a decent job or been anywhere upmarket.''

If only I could find the email Jim sent me, we pretty much plotted out the revival of the tie in the mainstream 3 months ago. Fashion and trend when held up to the light, is really just a big of shit.
Wear ties with suits, wear socks with brogues. Don't tuck your shirt in if you're wearing shorts. That type of thing.

/\ Surely this is profoundly wrong?
How can a tie ever just be a tie, a decorative item?
Here's a thought: Is a tie even more present by its absence?
To not wear a tie is to reference the notion of the wearing of a tie even more so than to actually wear one.
Does your head hurt from all that thinking?
That can matter--depending on the formality that the scenario demands
Tieless in a culture that doesn't put too much stock into wearing ties ain't gonna turn heads.
On the contrary, wear a tie in a society that eschews them and you'll get noticed.
What rot.
You have contradiced yourself utterly here.
First ties mean nothing and then they do?
I had some respect for you untill now, but now you show us that you'll say anything to anybody. You're like a typing prostitute.
Are we being half serious?
Objectively ties have no function other than for purposes aesthetic or for social convention.
What? I see your stratagem.
Through artifice and cutie pie stupidity you've derailed the topic from Filmbuffy's ludicrous list making pompousness into a sort of hide and go seek game.
You've won this round sir, but at least I don't have to make buffy-the-list-maker dinner every night
Showing your age with the Buffy reference, early 30's? Single? Dead-end job? Forum trolling, the only way to break the monotony? It's what's kept me going.
The Vampire show? I've heard of it, haven't most?
Single, no...I've been lucky in that regard. Dead-end job? Those who do better might say so, but I earn well enough to distract myself.
You should join some organization or club, might be a better monotony killer than list maker's forum.
1. List are important.
2. See, 1.
Are you lonely? I used to get lonely, until I learned how to hate.
But seriously, join some social club...or become a hobbyist of some sort, NOT a suit hobbyist--you need money to become a suiting hobbyist and it won't get you any positive attention.
If it wasn't for wrestling and a few other hobbies my social circle would be dramatically limited.
If I want to wear spandex and grab at men, I can go round Jim's
I dont' like the tieless look with coat.
This is XXI century and ties are out of fashion?
I not agree, but if it is so...well, i don't want resemble to Ahmadinejad.
No ties in this century?
Therefore i want this look:

Don't compare yourself to a dictator or populist power grabber, that's punching above your weight.
Lots of people don't wear ties, many architects I deal with, for instance, don't usually wear ties.
I've worn a nehru suit before, I like em.
Oh it's this guy again.
I personally think that Ivanoff is dramatically poor - I have no interest in his marital status.
He just sounds so poverty stricken.
Everything is just so meagre about him...
I propose we have a whip round.
What is a whip round? Yes, let's do it.
