Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

Yawn. My posting privileges at andy are taken away and I cant send messages. SF, was a very quick ban..they have a huge readership and wont except certain members being mocked.

Here though one can run naked and no one will notice. It is very cosmopolitan here. But there is the other issue--little discussion going on.

Although, I would expect certain things, say shoomans ideas that John Lobb and EG are simply glorified walmart shoes, to be taken badly at Andy or SF. He would likely be banned there simply for having the controversial (hehehe) idea. Here is a little different, which is good, but I think out of necessity.

Yuca, who cares what you think, you must be the dimmest bulb Ive ever met--and I am being honest.

And homunculus, I believe the word you are looking for is milieu. You need to take your studies seriously, but I like you.

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

Very kind of you to think of me but, assuredly, that is not the word I was looking for.

I found the word I was looking for and then I used it in my post.

Please don't hesitate to offer further critiques though, as and when you are able.

Yuca, who is racist? Playing with a stereotype does not make one a racist...but it does say something about the people who react strongly to the stereotype being thrown out there.

SF is a huge place, where there were many little threads to drop a line, and my less than reverential attitude to all things be it clothing brands or people was not tolerated--so certainly your star hypothesis has been proved wrong already.

Plekhanov? The contemporary political scientist or Marxist? I have read the writings of the former not latter.

Yuca, you do seem like a well meaning sort...But, my comment was not even racist. Who is to say those four affectedly dressed gentleman were not drug dealers? Unlikely though. And what is a drug dealer, and is it bad? My GP is certainly a drug pusher...

Also, my clown comment was very obvious from the start...but my question still remained unanswered, what is this Ivy Style business?

Formby, I will look into it, I appreciate the suggestion

Oh, the cosmetic surgeon who thinks he is entitled to a good time...You are a cosmetic surgeon, no?

I am glad that your breast augmenting and botox injecting hands have reached the forum and my attention but know that you need to be more than a overweight pseudo doctor for me to take notice of your lofty expectations. I have never liked doctors in general, and not even doctors like your ilk, so what social convention is pressuring me to think of you as anything more than a gnat?

Have you got a carer that comes by at anytime and takes you out ivanoff? Or will you be online all day?

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

It does put you at a little disadvantage here, it's true.  But that's what you want, isn't it?

You seem to be going full-tilt to make a point here. I imagine that a banning is your end-game? I can't see that you have any other one.

How cruel it would be then not to ban you & leave you to post about me forever - You know that a good deal of my employability in menswear is based on my online infamy which I find a real strain to live up to in real life...  So save me some work - Make me even more infamous. It only serves to get people more interested in me as I go around 'Talking Ivy'.

Best -

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

Now I feel bad...your employ-ability depends on online infamy? We are too far apart to be even near equals.

I didnt know men make livings out of talking on forums, this is new to me.

Truly, if it helps you, then I am glad I was of service...I hope I made you less anonymous, although I imagine you are very well known.

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

Do feel free to expand. If you wish.

I worked in Finance in London since the mid-Eighties, specialising in Credit Management from 1990 onwards. I mainly worked in TV & Media, Publishing, Marketing, Advertising.
2000 I became a property developer for a decade in the Cotswolds. 'Cottaging', I like to call it.
2010 I moved back into bookish persuits in a scaled down way... Calling me semi-retired would be generous.
Ivy clothes have been a passion (along with Modern Jazz) since '78 - Now I've found a way to cash-in on that too.

A man lives many lives. I still do the odd tax return for friends...

Been with my, now, wife for almost 30 years. Two kids, 11 & 21.

I'm not smug, but I do feel secure. Maybe that makes me hard to shake on my income, life, IQ, anything really.

FNB & 'Talk Ivy' is nothing but a pleasure to me - 4 good posters please me more than 4,000 duffers, 4 good posts please me more than 40 duff ones.

Of you, Ivan, we know nothing.

Best -

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

I am impressed Ivy...

Certainly I do not come here to talk about myself...that is only incidental. We are not too different, although most people all around are really quite similar--the differences being wholly artificial--so perhaps it is just a platitude?

For me, family is important and because of luck and moments of opportunism everything else unimportant. Property development, you say? We have something in common.

Re: In Praise of Ivanoff.

I dont feel I need to match anyone in anyway. Your years of experience should be enough to alert you to the folly of that mode of thinking.

If you are secure, comfortable, not wanting of anything--in short, happy--then you should be at ease. May I be so impertinent to say, perhaps there is not complete ease from your end? I am probably seeing something that is not there though.
