Shooey, I'm intrigued by this hand stacked heel stuff. The Northampton manufacturers must all still use this method, do they? I know my various shoes have a heel that looks the same as your EG illustration. So, is a pre-made heel a single block, always of wood? I've never given much thought to this aspect of a shoe. I have merely taken it for granted that a heel would be stacked leather slices, presumably to increase comfort by absorbing impact? I would be interested to hear more from you on the subject. Thanks.

In your OP, the last picture shows a closeup of the sole/welt edge and I see a little gap developing between welt and outer sole. How many times have these been worn and would you say that is normal or that the sole stitching may be a bit loose?

As for our pet Troll, his mistake was in trying to troll a bigger Troll (me!). Messing with him is a pleasure.

He did spark a very good post from you though, I can't take that away from him. But he's still not contributed anything here himself, apart from throwing lies & insults around... And so, for that, he gets swatted. I'm very fond of this forum...
