"Those shoes... they're Italian aren't they? That's interesting... you don't find them too effeminate?"
I'd get new knees before I got those.
According to your fellow Londoner Nicholas Foulkes, they are the best thing ever came out of Italy.

There's also a shiny plastic quality to the Gucci loafer. I seem to remember them becomming a point of ridicule sometime in the 80s, as M&S had their own plastic grey version of the Gucci. Best avoided along with fake or real Rolex's.
+ the soles are thin and will require multiple resoles. Before you know it the shoos will be buggered (if worn steadily).
Better choices around for sure.
The very top of the uppers look very well `blocked', but the rest of the uppers look wrinkled and messy as buggery (especially the heel area and below the lumpy bumpy beef roll). Gucci once made good clean shoo uppers, but they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel with their recent trainees...no proper shoemaking abilities at all. Gucci once had respectable makers that made the shoos, but now they are clearly second rate makers. Many of the Chinese could tear these shoo maker's heads off, so maybe they aren't even made in China anymore?? Africa? Vietnam? Seems well below the high standards of China for prestigious brands.

I like the ones Shooey posted. I once got a pair out of curiousity, brown suede with lug sole. Worn them about twice. The horse bit is the least of its problems, the rest of the loafer seems 'off' somehow.

Shooey that's not 400 dollars .. thats 400 pounds
Points taken on board ..this shoe creates such divergent views.. some love them and others thing they are a pile of crap?! Why does the shoe have a mythological status , must be something good about them surely? I have seen people like alan flusser wearing Gucci bit loafers with suits even though he talks about Italian shoe not being suitable for englush/american tailoring in his books ?!?
They look pretty (yes perhaps a bit feminine lol) and they are comfortable on trying then on in the store. The leather is total crap I would say .. the reason I posted the patent ones is because the normal leather is a horrid grain leather which looks really cheap. They also are going to get trashed easily I think ESP the soles although perhaps a topy could help with the last issue?
Fruity

The guy in the video you posted has comfortable looking shoes, toe box looks good and balance seems to be there which you can see with his moving around effortlessly, where can I buy please Shooey?
Nay. I don't like 'em. Associated with untrustworthy chancers.
^ It's a very small picture but the sole looks odd. Does it have a 'wave' effect?
so you like the gucci's kebab? sensing you are partial to a bit of bit action
fruity
ps on the second pair they are vibram rubber soles .. its basically a trainer posing as a loafer.

I think there are so many nice loafers out there I'm not sure I'd go with those for that price
