I'm Reckless Reggie of the Regent Palace,
I'm in love with every gal;
I flirt with Maudie and I flirt with Alice,
I'm a real life Regent's pal.

Re: Broadwalk Empire...

It is known that a writer must be able to control and engage the conscious and subsconcious mind in unision and that drinking vast amounts of alcohol will allow you to do this. Combined with benzedrine, then you are on a winner. Another good writing technique is to compose whilst drunk and edit sober, or vice versa. So I agree, there is no way Fleming would have written those books stone cold sober.

All things in moderation, I may even have a cigar myself on Christmas day, the look on the missus will be interesting. And what with the new Giant vibrator installed, she may even go ballistic on the assumption that the smoke will damage its newness.

I was out at a party last week and was talking to an uncle of mine - he'd stopped drinking and smoking 6 months ago he told me - he's 89.

The new bonds are rubbish.  They shoud do them set in the 60s only, though putting Bond in Boom Years Ivy might be a step too far.
