Any Pic you like - But it has to be cool !
A denim shirt with a tie?
I don't think so.
It's a washed out denim as well, from the little we get to see of it.
Still, as the only bonafide Ivy author amongst us, with a proven track record, Gall may well assert his right to be the keeper of the paradigm.
I do like that picture. It's a beautiful madras plaid and of course it helps that you can't see the desperation in his eyes you get in other pics.
I don't think Chen's biggest problem is how he dresses, apart from the camel coat period.
Honestly, hand on my heart, sometimes I think he has put in a good effort. Other times, when he is trying too hard not so. I think he has got a better considered wardrobe than most people, myself included. The problem remains of him being a complete nob, but that is just my personal impression, I think JP is a nob too but he can equally dress well. What I find strange is how Boyer has anything to do with menswear, he often looks like a bed ridden great-aunt.

You just love him Woof, he clearly is a nob. But in a kind of Alan Partridge way. Which is not easy to do, and has it's charm, but like you say the real hate I have I reserve for the overly right-wing members of his readership. As I do the overly left champagne sippers that were on here.
That's very insightful Bop. It's possible I am a nob myself and therefore feel a natural affinity with other nobs. I have found that it is possible to like people who are nobs as long as you don't have to work closely or deal with them on a regular basis. Of course the world of clothes blogs and forums is littered with nobs (present company excepted of course).
Right that's me done, I'm off to bed to dream of some very dull items of clothing.

Despite not being clued-in on all the Chenners gossip, I've had my own run in with him recently....
I bought a pair of brown, Brooks' flannels from a Yankee called Drake Sutton. The guy was nice enough to refund me 6 dollars for the postage. When I checked my paypal, I find out the whole transaction hasn't been under the name "Drake Sutton" but Chen Chenners Chenzvold, or whatever his name is.
Now to me, refunding postage is the sign of a modern day saint so I don't really know where to stand on the chen chenners debate. But, what really perturbs me is who "Drake Sutton" is. Is Chenners really Drake Sutton? Is Drake Sutton actually Chenners? Is Chenners, Chenners?
Maybe, just maybe, the fantastic personality and history of bad-boy deeds (somebody will have to clue me in on what actually happened; all I know is he has something against the lovely Jim) is all a farce. Maybe Chenners is just a viral caricature used to draw traffic towards the infamous ivy style? Maybe "Drake Sutton" is just a literary character and I've drank too much coffee too late. All I know is, those flannels looked quality; can't wait to try them.
Is it Knob or nob ?
I'm confused.
There is a considerable difference in my parlance.
I know saying things like this soon brings speculation over your own levels of knobishness. But with Chens I did give him the benefit ot the doubt over his problems with Jim and I still felt he was an arse. But with some outfits aside I think he can dress himself. better than the other things he elludes to like journalism. And better than a lot of other people in the clothes blogging world.

To be frank, Ivy Style is quite easy....and, more importantly, it is almost effortless if you grew up in a waspy scene.
So I really do not understand what is the big deal with someone who can dress "Ivy Style". Moreover, why would you want to adhere strictly to it...it is often boring and dull
As for Ivy Jim, his black cardigan, denim shirt and tie combo---one can barely see anything other than his bulbous head and oversized glasses--he looks like a gay social worker. Not a bad thing but perhaps a little out of touch with what he really wants to be projecting.
You know a lot about this crap...You must be really boring or lonely:)

We're both boring and lonely here Eggcart. My advice to you is get out now while you are still full of pith and whimsy. This place will strip you of that wit of yours.
