Yes, horses for courses I suppose.

They aren't for you just as(I don't know how to say it without you thinking I mean you personally but I don't... really) the 'geezer' thing is something others would avoid like the plague.

It's a rich tapestry.

Re: Padmore & Barnes

Really who the wants to be a geezer? It's the saddest term I think I've ever heard. And brings up images of, Danny Dyer, Phil Mitchell, and that twat that married Madonna. Yeah mate...I'm a bit of a geeeeezar!

Re: Padmore & Barnes

Cor!! Not this old Geezer thing again.
There was a very long and emotional thread on Geezer Ivy last summer.
The thing is Geezer is such a  subjective term, for me it really just means man
Or as I explained last year the way a New Yorker would say someone’s a good fella.
That’s not necessarily a gangster (but can be).Geezer for me is the exact same.
The whole Danny Dyer “Diamond Geezer” thing is a never ending source of embarrassment
For anyone from London.

Re: Padmore & Barnes

Seems to me it's a generational thing.  Whenever my father-in-law sees me wearing Wallabees, he always comments on my "nerd shoes".  He says they're what "geeks" wore back when he was a young man.  Weejuns were de rigueur; Wallabees were not.  However, if you come from my era and my culture, Wallabees were just about the 'flyest' 'kicks' around.  There was a thread posted on here about a Clarks in Jamaica book....do any of the people in that book like members of your Rambling Association or National Trust?  No, they look ill as fuck.  I think there's a lot of cultural baggage that goes along with them if you're from the UK.

WARNING: This is not jazz record.  It does flip Solomon Burke's 'Cool Breeze', though..

I would buy a pair of 'Starks' if I could.

^ Marlowe started it. On topic though. Ghost is the Wallabee Champ.

We could bump a jazz thread instead? For instance?

Word! those homeboys are rapping in a very ivy/ghetto way.
Not sure if this sort of patois is  conducive to forward slash's.

Re: Padmore & Barnes

Update...

Was in the area today, so went into Kilkenny to have a look see: the Padmore and Barnes store - in the old factory - does cheap hiking/ outdoor stuff mainly, but they did have a display of their Willow range - all colours. The insole says 'designed in Ireland, made in the EU' and there's a sticker which says 'made in Portugal'. Best bit is that were reduced instore to €50 (from €99) and, on the strength of that, I bought a pair in the chestnut leather after dithering long and hard over the dark brown. Maybe I should have bought both?

No sign of the, ahem, 'iconic' P204, and the lone sales assistant was no help at all.
