There was a funny comment on one of the other forums regarding the AAAC obsession with jackets sans padding. I put it to you, is totally unpadded clothing truly "the new black", or is it simply a new toy for the geeksighters (the emperor's new unpadded clothes)?
I believe that it is as much a question of comfort as one of looks.
Plus, I think that padding tends to look unnatural since - as noted - people more often than not have sloped shoulders.
I once saw Graydon Carter in a hideous sartorial anagram of bulging plaid dinner jacket and highly tapered trousers in which he was standing in an awkward fashion.
He looked like an overstuffed Christmas element.

He's all over the place. Apparently that is where out of work Santa actors with a small drink problem go.
I could see an occasional unpadded, completely shoulder padless jacket to wear like a sweater. But it's not something to aspire to for everday.
Mother of Jumping Jesus, those suits look horrible. Carter's writer, Hitchens often looks horrible but he's such a great wit that you forget what he's dressed like. Carter's stuff is bad. Very bad. Those trousers.
I seem to recall that Charles, who is wears A&S, doesn't have those horrible shoulder problems that Dan Rather's suits appear to have.
Not to sure about the "stealth" though.
