The Hotel Bristol

Any views on the news that the Beckhams are being put up in the Imperial Suite of the Hotel Bristol at eh rate of E17,000 a night for five months (around E2m). OK, maybe he is worth much more than that to the football club in commercial terms but can the world not see that rewarding morons like this is, in a sense, pretty disgusting. Moreover, it casts some real light on Beckham's decision to donate his salary to charity. Let's just hope that the 'perk' of the hotel suite catches him in the French super-tax trap and he and that miserable wife of his are hammered at 70% on worldwide income.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

The Beckhams will drive traffic to the hotel, and it is no extra cost to the hotel unless the hotel was full every night and they had to kick guests out to lodge the Beckhams.
A win-win.
And the rest of us chew our tongues with envy.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

I've never stayed at the Bristol, but I've stayed at a few 'posh' hotels - Oh the misery !   Oh the tacky pomp !

An utter waste of money.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

Becks himself doesn't seem so bad, it's 'Posh' (a misnomer if ever there was) who is a foolish trollop.

When they used to live in my vicinity, quite a few years ago now, you would occasionally see Becks out and about like an ordinary bloke. 'Posh' however insisted on making a big show of herself with a coterie of hangers-on and minders just to do the supermarket shop, of all things. As if she couldn't have sent someone else to do this chore, or at least done it without the attention seeking menagerie of followers. A worthless individual and emblematic of the 'chav lottery winner' style that she represents.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

There was an article in today's Independent on Becks links to Qatar and the real reasons behind this act of charity. Oddly, I can't find it now, looks like its been pulled.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

That was it, why couldn't I find it again?

Anyway, yeah, he's in the pocket of the Qataris and there's no real charity in the dealings whatsoever. Allegedly of course.

Re: The Hotel Bristol

Ultimately, Arabs probably own the Bristol: hence the absurd cost of a kip. It is very likely that Becks will be having his Tarte-Burberry free in the Bristol restrong.
