The clothes of Monty Python

I was innocently beguiling the time watching Monty Python on youtube and was struck by the clothing they wear in their "It's the Arts" sketch in the first episode. I think the colors are very unusual but still quintessentially English.

I particularly enjoy the clothing in the "Upper Class Twit Of The Year" sketch.

Apparently Cleese used to live in an apartment off Sloane Square, and was awakened many times in the middle of the night by slamming doors and too-loud drunken upper-class accents in the street.
Hence, the sketch lampooning those people.

Re: The clothes of Monty Python

Monty Python parodied a lot of different classes and occupations and tended to incorporate all the items associated with each into one rather overdone composite character but in some ways they accidentally preserved the English look from the late 60s and 70s and gave us insight of how the English view each other.
