Not for us, but them, the fashion conscious, the quilted jacket debate and the ad FNB just posted had me thinking, we are nearly at full saturation, I'm sure in the next year we will see new giddying heights in proletarian tailoring, as big brands really push the the suited and booted look to every one.
As we reach this point typically something else becomes the next bandwagon to build momentum around, will the new trend be anything as obvious as dressing down, what is the natural reaction for a person looking to avoid the crowd?
I also noticed a proliferation of tweed jackets this winter.
Tweed is fashionable at the moment.
Several merchants have refreshed their books maybe in response to this revival.
...then there's Dashing Tweeds too.
Good times.
Formby, bespoke is a drop in the ocean.
I note David Saxby, the Fulham-based tweeds vintage clothes man, has pulled out of one of the two shops he had in the Fulham Palace Road. Again a tiny drop in the ocean. RTW is a better guide. I cannot say I have seen an improvement in the dress of my fellow Londoners in recent times though.
Going by the new Spring/Summer stock in the shops, the Preppy look is still in (possibly even bigger) this year. Bright coloured polos, chinos and shorts are everywhere in my local stores - M&S, BHS, H&M, Esprit, Gap in addition to the usual suspects such as Jack Wills, Joules, Hilfiger, Gant etc.

I meant "new" as in "not used". IIRC Saxby has (or had?) a factory in Norfolk to make his RTW range.
^ He had two shops next to one another in the Fulham Palace Road. To be honest, there is a Thai massage shop a few hundred yards away. We walked past once and there was a stunning blonde inside - who I did not see. So I always look in that window to see if she has returned. Saxby is an afterthought.
No massage or extras?
Surely every Thai "massage" parlour in London is a knocking shop. The only legit massage places are attached to reputable gyms, spas and hotels.
^ A ground floor place in the Fulham Palace Road with a big window? I don't think so.
