Re: How Low will it Go? (Dow touched down to 7882 so far)

hepcat .. i would ignore them .. look at whats happened over the last few years, 'reputable' institutions have gone bust, most recently MF global which gobbled client money up. I wouldnt put money in even a slightly dodgy institution in these times, i would also recommend spreading your capital across various accounts to protect yourself in case of collapse of one or more. i am by no means a doom and gloom merchant but these are dangerous times.

beware of these guys trying to earn fees from you with no additional return to you with these products and accounts. i would look at managing your own money. in the current enviroment there is close to 0 yield on anything therefore its all about wealth preservation and protecting your assets. if you want to speculate on markets thats something you could also consider with perhaps part of your pot.

fruity

ps something also to consider would be to spread currency risk .. there are the beginnings of wild volatility in currency markets so i would be wary of keeping cash concentrated in any one currency. spread this risk around. avoid currencies of countries whose central banks are engaged in QE (US may be an exception as they may slow down QE early next year).

Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice chaps, reinforced my initial reaction to the contents of the brochure, more penalties and %s being skimmed off left right and center and if you did want your money before the end of the term then basically all they would give you would be a 50% loan on your own money. Combined with the nasty fines for not keeping up your payments into your savings, there was actually something quite sinister about this product.

The Russian oligarch system came out of bad advice from the West - but better that, than a post-industrialised society based on....

I better not mention that cultural taboo, because that would be....

Blighty, well on the road to being the first post-industrial country, like Detroit, but only worse, albeit without the guns (for now).

Everything that's wrong with British politicians.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21737627

Especially this at the end from Oakeshott

"This is a personal and political tragedy. Chris was a dynamic, decisive, strategic minister - an object lesson to us all in how to fight as hard in office as in opposition for the environment, economic growth, Europe and essential liberties," he said.

"It's a bitterly cold day for the future of radical, progressive politics in our country," added the peer.

What planet do these fuckers live on?

How is jailing a dishonest, criminal politician a political tragedy?

Unbelievable.

^ Huhne and his ex got longer sentences than those convicted for serious crime, e.g. multiple burglary, fraud, muggings, looting in the London riots etc.

^ In fact, Neil Hamilton was never convicted of any crime. Al Fayed's claims were investigated by the authorities but no evidence was found to confirm his allegations.

Only 6 sleeps to go.
And the Yen is at parity with the aus$.
Around Y100=1au$.

10 years ago it was round half with 1au$=Y50

1.00 AUD = 0.8 EU
1.00 AUD = 0.7 GBP
1.00 AUD = 1.04 USD

Good advice xenon, I plan to take it.

Been there the year before last for a day, that was more than enough. I begrudge queuing half an hour for a minite ride on the tea cups. And yes, ut was fast food paradise. But in the spirit of amicable relations with the family I shall grin and bear it, feigning interest. I only hope the wine list is good.
