stepped in some chewing gum last night and its stuck well and truely into the sole of my old john lobbs .. any idea on how to get the damn thing out?
also, looking at the same shoe soles they look terrible with cracking and potmarks (from all the london street grit which is scattered all over the pavements) .. does anyone use any products on the bottom of their shoe sole?

The freezer method worked for me. Can't comment on the others.
Try lighter fluid or mineral spirits or gasoline. (not wood alcohol or any alcohol)
might be good to get an opinion from a good cobbler.
what types of humans walk the Earth that throw chewing gum on the ground, pretty low level for sure...all self absorbed, probably a level one or two at most.
Tell Lobb's to get around there at the double - and use a chair in future!
