Tudor Watches Gets It Right.....

These two latest offerings from Tudor are quite interesting, much more so than the recent design faffing with the Rolex brand:

The Black Bay:

The Pegalos:

I must say, I am very tempted with the Black Bay, the Pegalos seems a great modern update of the Submariner, but too large for my delicate wrist.

Black bay looks nice .. I like the look of vintage watches from the 60s and 70s .. tempting but I'm sticking to my philosophy of not wearing a watch ..

This reminds me .. I've noticed that tailors on the row seem to like wearing prestige watch brands on their wrists .. Rolex seems a favourite ..

I like the Black Bay as well, but something about a burgundy bezel just seems off.

Another possible good watch with a vintage vive and in a 600 pieces limited edition is the Gylcine 1953 reedition:

Re: Tudor Watches Gets It Right.....

Funnily enough, the one Rolex which I was going to mention that does tick all the boxes is the Milgauss. But, at nearly six grand Euros....

I have some money coming to me the end of the month and I have to say I am torn between a new hi-fi set-up and a new watch, or both. The missus has ruled out a second hand Defender with the threat of divorce, then there's the garden fence that needs replacing. But I am going to reward myself with something and watches as ever are hight on the list.

Re: Tudor Watches Gets It Right.....

I actually like the one with the green and orange undertones in the dial, minute hand and glass, always gets a slagging off on the watch forums.

Ball Watches (American company, Swiss made like Hamilton) actually do an Engineers watch range. Some good, some not so good.

To be honest, if I was going for the Rolex price range, I would definitely step into the art deco arena of the Jaeger LeCoultre tank, there's too much of a whiff of new money status symbol with Rolex these days, which we've explored before, but the JLC tank watches have everything going on in the right places: style, build, pedigree and class.

Have you considered the newer ones?

Re: Tudor Watches Gets It Right.....

Yeah, I may get a XVII, but I hope to find a XII. It was just the perfect watch to me. Dunno, just a special balance.

Re: Tudor Watches Gets It Right.....

I'm sure rarity is part of the allure, but something more than that, from a pure aesthetic standpoint, the older ones seem to have a better balance. I mean, don't misunderstand, the new ones are fantastic, and I would take one in a heartbeat, but the XII has proportions that just produce perfection to me.
