Lord, there seems to be a dearth of new activity here. I hope the forum is not expiring. It provides a needed corrective to iGentist follies on the larger fora.
The statistics tell me that we are still voraciously read and that our server is often oversubscribed to the point where not even I can log on.
New input has been slow lately, but that's easily remedied by people starting new threads. There's no magic to that side of things.
The thing with the Net is that, unlike the Telly, it's not a passive medium. Don't like what you see? Then put what you do want to see up there. Not enough to read that interests you? Then start a conversation that you want to see happen. It's an easy fix.
Best -
Readers might get the idea it's a clique on here and be intimidated from posting. Also, we don't advertise, no one advertises us and there is practically no correspondent promoting from other clothing blogs. Calling it film noir buff hasnt exactly done a lot for the sites visibility. Pintirest, facebook and similar concepts may also be taking away from forum life.
That said, I get approached by merchants to advertise who say the site comes up as one of the larger in clothes; thus, I cant tell you what the problem is, if any. Is there a site doing it better?
You only get out of a forum what you put in.
So, put something in and you'll get something out.
I promise.
The problem is that there are precious few men who have the knowledge, experience and most importantly inclination to talk about tailored clothing and these are further scattered (allied?) amongst the various fora. Some on here, some on S.F and some on L.L.
I suspect, that to the outsider, we don't come across as a particularly friendly bunch. That is the downside of being Buff's Basterds.
This forum is read avidly though, and there are several guest sock puppets from the other fora.
There is an ebb and tide to postings, there's been quiet periods in the past and the buzz gets going again. But as everyone else has stated, you can change the dynamic by posting lots of threads that will interest a response.

How can any forum be dying when there is so much activity and goodwill about?

Why not try telling them that you are descended from Aztec kings or: 'actually, I am a space station astronaut, on leave and enjoying a quiet pint with my writer friends - and you are...?'.
People are welcome to contribute. The first post is always the most difficult.
