Re: Is this forum dying?

Shooman, it's not that I dislike shoes, quite the opposite, i love elegant shoes. However, I like very plain shoes without a lot of decorations. Unless one wants to discuss the technical aspects, which dont really interest me, there isn't a lot to discuss after black or espresso brown oxford, derby, chelsea boot etc..

You dont see me discussing the attachment of a suit sleeve to a jacket body either.

At this point, besides providing a forum free from special interest posters looking to punish others for expressing themselves about clothing, my main contribution is as an editor helping people with qualities and makes I find superior or rather enjoy myself or in making suggestions about clothing for a specific purpose or result. I talk about what I like without any interest in having people copy what I do except that I might inspire men to think about why they choose their own clothing.

Re: Is this forum dying?

The way a shoe is made tells a big story and reveals much. The way a shoe is made makes a big difference in how it feels and looks. How a shoe is made impacts my decisions and thoughts on shoes always these days, and many clues are given out on what's going on in the inside.

A picture tells a thousand words, but a shoe tells fifty thousand words.

It's good to know exactly what you are getting so you can appreciate it exactly for what it is. When l know they make a shoe by doing this a certain way and that a certain way etc, it makes me appreciate it even more. When l look at a shoe l see it like l have X ray vision, l see the hidden inside and the outside...all the pieces that go into it, the techniques used, quality of materials used and the essential construction differences, these types of needles used etc. Does it really matter? No.

Re: Is this forum dying?

I regret not finding FNB much sooner.  I will say that of all the forums online, this is the ONLY one I belong to.  I think that says something.  Not that I'm much of an online type person.  Whole thing actually kinda gives me anxiety.  That's probably why I was so late to the party.

Re: Is this forum dying?

I imagine it was said with a turn of phrase.. what I like most about this forum is that FNB's never felt the need to sell out, which means, we are never in vouge, and what is never in vouge can ever be out of vouge..

Re: Is this forum dying?

I was in Argentina last week visiting Calzados Correa (worth a visit for anyone near Buenos Aires) when a friend asked me how I had found it. I told my friend I do a lot of research online but if he really wanted to learn about shoes, he should go into FNB and dig up Shooey's posts. Next question was, is this a forum about Shoes? Well, errr, not really, and it's kind of about clothes, but not really. Next question, is it a popular site? Well, there's a few Brits in it (some are expats), a couple of Aussies and a few others I don't know much about. Sometimes nobody posts for days. He stared blankly, but I guess I had some street cred having led him to Calzados Correa.
I can tell you that my life is professionally fulfilling with exciting research and clinical interests, I'm happily married, etc.
Yet, if the forum closed I'd pitch a fit.
