I'm conflicted about it personally, the men being attracted to it part that is, for I unquestionably believe that women are not, so not arguing that premise. With shoes, I am firmly in the worn in camp, but with suits and the like, I fight two separate impulses. I value fit and precision most of all, so a new item is love, but also the character of use and the resultant spirit it conveys to the wearer, so, well, shit. I basically have no idea which way I think. I vote the zenith is a couple dozen wears, but I keep stuff until it literally falls apart, so I am just talking about when I think it's at it's aesthetic maximum.
I think here it is clear difference between the sexes: there is nothing worse than a lady in musty old tweed, whereas, fitting and quality issues aside, a man will look better in aged clothing that has bonded with the wearer. Possibly.
Same with watches, your missus ain't going to look better/attractive/stylish, or indeed appreciate a vintage watch, but the right vintage watch on your goodself with decayed/patina on the tritiuim dials will look much better than some modern superluminova chunky monstrosity.
Watches for sure. I am with you there. I think there was another thread on here where I was unsuccessfully trying to explain why I really want an IWC Mark XII instead of a new one (not that the new IWC are hideous or anything).
