Re: Is this forum dying?

Just asking. Perhaps this is the start of an FNB Spring?

I wonder what captain-preppy thinks now?

For my little part I can promise that FNB/Talk Ivy certainly still has the power to promote and provoke.

As long as there are the Bowns and the Futtocks; the Chenners and the Crompies of this world, we will be there to debunk and debag them.

Re: Is this forum dying?

Part of the problem might be the fact that this forum has been active since what - 2007? 2008?  Keeping something vibrant for that long can be hard.  I mean, I recently found the forum in the past year or so.  Trying to go back through and find all the goodness in the huge archive of threads and posts is daunting.  I can hardly make it through the Talk Ivy WAYW forum, much less the entire site.  I've noticed some old posters have left, for whatever reasons - they got what they wanted from it, they said what they wanted, there was a law of diminishing returns, they just got bored, what have you...  But I think there are newcomers that have stuff to bring to the table, but maybe there's a fear that it's been covered before.  I mean, a lot of it has.  If FNB disappeared, it would be unfortunate to lose all that's come of it.  LOTS of great content here.  But, at the same time, a clean slate would probably reinvigorate the conversation and give those more recent passengers a chance to recreate what others have already created here.  I can see how the long standing members could get real bored with it.  But then again, you've got to think that there are others coming to the site that find the whole notion really exciting.  So, yeah... what do you do?  You could probably wipe the forum clean and then 5 years from now, the wheel will have been reinvented with completely new members.  Would the conversation change?  Would it draw the long-gone members back into the conversation?

Re: Is this forum dying?

Things are fine you could go back a few years and see a post every couple of days on T.I. Because a core group of people find something else to to for a month or so, doesn't mean that people won't come back for a chat and a moan at some point, this isn't a profit driven forum, you don't have to worry about keeping the viewing figures up all the time. Even though I've never noticed getting errors pop up for over subscription to the forum as much as they do at the moment.

Don't get me started.  I'm not here for politics.

Re: Is this forum dying?

Can I suggest that the forum doesn't troll itself  ?

Troll Talk Ivy and lose.  Just don't do it.

Good Wardrobe posters are being lost because they are straying down into the Ivy sub-forum here trying to mix things up and not liking the reception they receive. What did they expect ?

Their injured vanity then provokes a great big flouncing 'I'm off!!!' performance.

Pointless & stupid.

Talk Ivy on Talk Ivy & save the rest for here. How hard is that ?
