^ This is Buenos Aires ?
I intend to get there soon as it is one of the few places that is still affordable and reasonably safe. Do Montevideo as well. Maybe explore further- perhaps Chile.
How did you find Argentina in general?
A good story. Please let us know any future developments. lt would be good to know how well they do everything and the quality of the materials, you would reckon they would be definitely worth a price like that.
King:
Loved Buenos Aires. I had been there as a young man chasing a girl I was hopelessly in love with so did not appreciate the city. The women continue to mesmerize me because the Argentinian accent is so peculiar.
The best analogy I can come up with is that just as Puerto Rico is the most americanized latin country, Argentina is the most europeanized one. I avoided the tango scene, although I'm told some of the modern adaptations are interesting. I went to the Boca area- you do need an experienced local with you, it is still dangerous at night. But I missed a football game with the Boca Juniors, which many friends tell me is THE thing to do in Argentina- not for the timid and go with a local.
The peso is an inflated currency, so you will get your best deals paying with Dollars.
I have been told Montevideo is even nicer.
Thanks for that Chevere!
I lived in Bs As for a few months when travelling there in 1977 (Yes!) I am turning 60 this month so remembering what I did at age 24 in the Argentine is nostalgic. I also ran around looking for boots for the weather and wish that I had known about Calzados Correa. Glad it was such a great experience as is that wonderful city on the Plate.
