A blog from someone not so "new"...

I always been a "Talk Ivy"-poster (the ones that do "cross-posting" know me well), never posted on "The Wardrobe" before...

Don't think that I am going to do too much on here as I am happy with my little unprofessional blog, that I wanted to "promote" over here (there is a little bit of "Ivy League" visible, but it would be more of a general "menswear"-blog):

http://maennergarderobe.tk

For the ones who might like it,

all the best and a happy new year!

D.

Hello. I hope this not draw abuse like the Talk Ivy post.

I cannot get the English translation to work.

"Florid, smug, middle-aged golf club bore in this country I'd say. Propping up the 19th hole in deepest Surrey bemoaning the perils of immigration."

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

The translate facility works. You should include Viennese topics. There must be scope there and not so many are posting on that. Vass and the upmarket shops Knize?  http://www.knize.at/en/content/2.html

I am in Bad Hofgastein later in the month so will see some evidence of Austrian/German clothes trends but mostly skiwear and Russian styles. And the nudity thing as well. My hotel connects directly to the big spa. I have never understood the interest in hanging around with no clothes on. Ten minutes in a sauna maybe - but not hours on end.

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

I did include Knize! Interestingly enough Rudolf Niedersüß, the owner of Knize wears a suit in that post (I did upload a pic of him) that's pretty 'Continental Ivy' - viennese styled suits do have pretty natural shoulders, three buttons etc.;-)

Vass shoes are hungarian... Budapest based not viennese :-)

You are right, more about Vienna would be good...

I hope you like it in Bad Hofgastein! :-)

Yes, you do mention Knize early on. I thought Vass was available in Austria as Hungary was part of the old Austrian Empire. Same with Dinkelacker shoes.

Loden coats as well. Plenty of subject matter.

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

Vass is a quite new brand (at least to my understanding) - it's tradition wouldn't go back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire... Dinkelacker is a good example! Hey, Dinkelacker is even "Ivy" - 1966 sometimes posted some pics of him in suede brogues, I think those are Dinkelackers... wink

In the end Viennese shoe-making tradition and Hungarian shoe-making tradition are pretty similar...

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

I guess you are right - here in Middle Europe the dark single breasted sheepskins are much more common... and to me they also look better. I love the colour on that one smile Do you prefer the white fleeced ones?

No I prefer dark fleece. Though I have a second sheepskin with white fleece.

Like that blue and green and the highwater aspect. I wish I could read German because this is a sample of the translation I am getting:

"Since there is to see not only women's and children's fashion for finishing teeth..."

From this section:

"Da dort nicht nur Damen- und Kindermode zum Nachschneidern, sondern auch Herrenmode zu finden ist, schaute ich interessiert zu -und siehe da, folgendes Bild erregte unser gemeinsames Interesse:"

"Very important: the federal government is "normal" and not "deep" in the seat - makes a huge difference in terms of convenience!"

I'd vote for that.

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

big_smile - thanks Jeff... ok, what was meant is: there is not only children's and women's fashion but also fashion for gentlemen available - for sewing... hahaha.

and, the federal government is the rise - those jeans have a "normal" (in German you say "normal" rise for "mid" rise) rise in contrary to a low rise - big difference in comfort! wink

Google translation is much better than it was, but... hahahaha...

Re: A blog from someone not so "new"...

Federal government=rise...haha...wouldn't have guessed that one.

Back when I was taking Latin I would try to figure out (okay! cheat) difficult passages on google. Useless. Google cannot decline a noun or figure out ablative absolutes worth a damn. Hardly surprising, but disappointing nonetheless.

Google is aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.
