im feeling better after hearing all your postive advise and feeling more optimistic about pulling this off. its made me think more about colour and what works well and what doesnt. if you dress in a mechanical way wearing only well trodden combinations (navy blazer, grey flannels etc) as a uniform you never have to think carefully.

my observation that grey doesnt work with powder blue seems to be confirmed, it makes the colour look washed out? why is this? can it be rationally explained why this happens?

i like the idea of blue trousers which i like wearing anyway .. any suggestions as to the shade of blue which would look 'best'? navy or perhaps more of a french blue?

its strange that brown trousers seem to be recommended by you guys, would never have occurred to me, although i do wear brown cords a lot but with tweed jackets on a sunday afternoon at the pub mainly .. is it just the case that brown and blue are a harmonious mix?
