I bought a few novelty cufflinks for my English cufflink essay. Some were vintage others new. Generally, I like to deal with merchants there that are actual stores

i'd say close to 60% of my clothes come from ebay.  It's because i'm a vintage fanatic and the vintage shops around here are usually heavily laden with disco junk.  Just today i got in the mail a very nice fitting vintage custom made (in japan) grey sharkskin suit that was made for a Mr. Fitzgerald in 1967.  fits me quite well.  suits i usually buy on ebay as well as vintage levis.  ebay suit buying is ok if you're not afraid of disappointment and you have a good tailor.  I've purchased 8 pairs of vintage levis 519 corduroy pants from ebay because they are the best fitting cord jeans ever made.  i won't buy shirts though, too picky about the fit.  t-shirts, socks and underwear are definitely not ebayed.  alot of online vintage store use as well.  Ebay is also great for vintage neckties.  Ebay shopping (and vintage shopping in general) is more of a hobby than anything, so when i shop is usually not out of necessity.  it's more about the hunt for the bargain or the rare find than just about going out and buying something.
