Boom! Boom! Har! Har! Har!
lulz.
Now, having exhausted the patience of SR, Si is off around Europe, where he is gleaning an eclectic mix of 'jackets' from greenhorn Italians.

His latest posts - fag-bags-on-the-cheap and how tin cufflinks are made seem a bit desperate. Now this - a promise of fried chicken - will The Colonel get a look-in? Maybe The Colonel is too much RTW nowadays but he could tell the Yanks how to make Crom Pie. Mind you there are plenty of dorks who'd like to know the process for frying chicken - oils and sauces to use etc; best freedom fires blah blah blah.
Now he is biting the hand that feeds him (the FT) and (at least to the extent that RJ has SR premises) defaming Richard James:

What a weasel!
Richard James has his shops in Clifford Street, a few yards off the Row. His RTW is made abroad - suits and jackets in Mauritius by Wensum and shirts in Slovakia. Tony Lutwyche stuffed him nicely - http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/fashion/news/made-in-england-sold-on-savile-row-ndash-but-stitched-in-mauritius-1040243.html.
I expect, though, that Crompie's real beef with RJ is that he refused freebies. It's also rather surprising that Crompie should criticize the FT's editorial team. Maybe they will stuff him now. After all, what the Dickens are they doing with him when they have Foulkes?
I read the FT article and there is no evidence that Crompie has a beef with Richard James. He was just having a sly dig at his editors for inserting an inaccuracy into his article. Perhaps the editors ran the piece by RJ's PR who inserted the usual (and inaccurate) "Savile Row tailor" description.
IIRC James was a photographer and had no cutting or tailoring expertise when started his business. He is similar to Patrick Grant of Norton & Sons - an entrepreneur who now calls himself a tailor and designer too.
By the way: it is curious that Crompie should have asked for a freebie from a tailor that he does not rate as Savile Row. There cannot, surely, be any link between his request and RJ's declining to oblige in his attitude can there? Apparently, they are asking Crompie to 'clarify' his remarks.
Do we know for sure that Crompie asked for a freebie from RJ?
I hope that Richard James tells other leading journalists in the clothing industry about such despicable behaviour.

Who are Bowen and Compton?
^ Have you any evidence, even anecdotal, that FNB has contributed to Crompton becoming the bĂȘte noir of the Row?
