Re: WASP101 Gate

Walter Mitty Vs Danny Daydreamer.

Creative people tend to have a lot of imagination, which is a good thing but only when applied in the world of reality. The arts and design spring to mind. Politics needs imagination and foresight, Richard clearly has the former. The problem is he's used it to project himself as someone he isn't. I would think this doesn't sit well if he's your acting congressman or MP. At least he's realized now he's been exposed as a fraud the best thing to do is pull the plug. To have continued would have meant he could see no wrong with the situation and that would have the trait of a compulsive lair.

Its one thing to dress in only one "style" of clothing, but to reject any garment that doesn't fit in with that style as somehow ugly or not worth wearing lends itself to someone slightly odd in the first place anyway. The need to keep blowing smoke up their own arses says to me their really not healthy or happy people. It goes beyond just clothes.

Re: WASP101 Gate

You're one of the biggest egos on the net Soggy, but I didn't mind it because I knew you were passionate, then I realised all it took was a difference in opinion to have you get personal about things, first off I can't believe it matters that much to you to get that upset in the first place, and secondly how easy it is to fall out with you, if you're not a yes man. Or fight you're corner even if you go to far like threatening Leer. I'd look at yourself, and your actions first.

Chens clearly wants to be a professional at what he does which is why he is so hell bent on dominating things.

Jim is fucking insane.

I have an asperger like obsession which Ivy seems to have held on to longer than anything else has.

and Leer shouldn't dress himself until he has burnt all grey leather items in his wardrobe.

Re: WASP101 Gate

Soggs likes quality clothes, and more power to him for that, personally, I've got £800 jackets in my wardrobe, and what I realised is it was a load of bullshit, to fill up some void in your life with expensive clothes is pretty weird. Which is why I quit my job, and moved into something I thought was more beneficial to me and other people.

I mean, you can appreciate the quality of well-made clothes, and enjoy them, but you have to look at the underlying drivers to be doing such things in the first place when you've spent £170 on a shirt.

Now I'm more interested in mass-made clothes, and mid-century American clothing, probably still being driven by similar factors, interest in design and style, but it is probably more the realisation of a by-gone look, than trying to have the best quality.

Ivy is accepted into wider fashion due to it under pinning companies like Ralph which are still popular. If it wasn't for that the geekery would be as obvious as the Fedora Lounge, but then I still have more respect of them than any cu.nt on style forum. I don't mind being a trainspotter, fashion is fleeting, why invest? Unless of course you can afford to, but I've realised it's not for me.

To me yours and your families/friends health and wellbeing is paramount to happiness. I spend my time doing those things first, and when I'm not doing that I'm on here relaxing (typically) or ranting (often).

Re: WASP101 Gate

He means me. I wouldn't have said I've got a big ego at all. I just call a spade a spade really. I've read praise heaped on people that either dress like a knob or think like one and I call it out. I think Bop has got the hump over my dressing to please a forum comment. Still. Or maybe my 4th grade Ode to him. He is right when he says I don't really get bothered enough to be upset though. Andy B picked that up right away with his baiting about Mods. I don't bite, I windup.

I don't have to look at myself because I'm quite happy in my life. Great missus, nice home, good job, good wardrobe. Always getting comments on my clothes from strangers so I have no issue with how I dress, no need to blow smoke up my arse on the net. No need to promote myself as some sort of guru to a niche clothing forum or market.

Re: WASP101 Gate

Its not a void I filling, its a wardrobe. Why fill it with crap when you can fill it nice stuff? Whats wrong with spending £170 on a shirt? Good clothes have never been cheap

Re: WASP101 Gate

No it wasn't either of those things it was something you said on the NSFW area which was actually not what I'd expect from someone who, although was an online acquaintance I had had a lot of time for, and I'm not even the type of person to be bothered by that type of thing, but I realised what had to be said to keep you from attacking people including me, was to always agree, never question or critique, or face the wrath. If that was what had to be done, I was sick of doing it. Leer is a wanker some of the time, but a harmless one, and he wasn't blameless, but I think things go too far. And also, there is nothing wrong with being a purist with clothes, just because we have fashion, doesn't mean we can't have defined styles. If you want to aggressively hate on people for not coming up to your desired standards, just step back and take a look at why you might be compelled to do that.

Can we get this thread back on track? If necessary, take your personal feuds to the forum fight club on NSFW.

Re: WASP101 Gate

And when you add the twist that the subject matter of the proposed fiefdom (Ivy) is one imposed upon you by another it just gets madder.

What happened to the guy who was a 'Dandy' ?  Where did he go ?
