My 5 cents: Certainly, this exaggerated 1960s teenage fashion known as "mod" would be terrible for an adult.
Regarding the photos:
The first example of a suit (or rather jacket) is a disaster. It would be terrible on anybody, I guess. No matter if it's a teenager or a grown up. No matter if it's 1963, 1979 or 2013.
The second examples of suits are definitely better. They are not "timeless styles", though, if there is such a thing. They are clearly 1960s Italian suits Brioni 1966, maybe? They would not be out of place today, I guess, just because current fashions are sixties influenced.
But imagine these suits in, say, 1983, and they would be way out!
Another point: I don't think it is possible to compare a suit on a hanger with a suit on a person.
Besides: Is number one really a suit from the sixties or is it a revival thing, a Cavern suit or a Merc suit?

I think Mr. Hayward made the male wardrobe for the Italian Job. Didn't he also make the suits for Alfie? I like his style of make.

There is the crux of the problem. Middle aged men that have put a few pounds on insisted on wearing a tight fitting high break jacket. Theres a fear of wearing a two button front jacket, there was complete shock (bordering on horror) that I had a suit made without a ticket pocket. Thankfully the younger guys that are into it are a little more "with it". I'm "in" on the 9th of next month for my next suit. I'm going for a Conduit style, no ticket pocket, very simple. The cloth is a chocolate brown with a blue window check. Very in vogue as Buff said the other day. Very different to what the other guys in the clubs are wearing, and truth be told, it'll better made and look fashionable. Theres talk of a full on Ivy style suit as well, Sack with waist suppression. I need to see whats the Bobby Moore with how much waist they can put into it though. I don't want to look like I'm wearing a giant beer can. Being a tall slim chap.
