Agnelli was just a capitalist pig with a freaky nephew. So what if he could afford expense clothes on a grand scale? He had a face like a cracked boot.

McQueen was naturally stylish and chose classic clothes. He did not come across as a narcissist as most movie stars do.

It's amazing how awful wealthy actors and actresses look in real life. They even look bad in expensive clothes at premieres and awards ceremonies.

Daniel Craig looks particularly bad in my considered opinion. I watched Skyfall the other night, awful, truly awful. He looks like one of those skinny plonkies who doesn't eat; eyes like piss holes in the snow. The film was just plan daft, especially when he falls through the ice into the loch to re-emerge fully dry and clothed without any signs of hypothermia.

With McQueen there is an awful gap in the 70's - did he remain the epitamy of the cool during his last decade? Others who had it - Bill Evans - lost it during this decade.

I think almost everyone lost it in that decade.

In the 70s, McQueen was motorcycle racing when not filming. He looked fine in his movies of that period.

I can't understand why Craig was chosen to succeed Brosnan. Ewan McGregor would have been my choice. He's a very versatile actor and has the necessary looks and charm.

I'm ok with Craig generally. I think he does a good job with the grit of the literary Bond. I just think whoever dressed him should be beaten with a rubber hose. Those Ford suits were approximately two hundred and thirty seven times too small for him.

It's the sponsors who dress Bond and pay a fortune for the "privilege". In recent films, Craig has worn Sunspel polos and a Barbour too. Then there are the cars and product placement too.

Re: The best dressers in history. But who will carry the torch?

That's it Bish, he lacks charm and everyone who likes him says it's more in keeping with the literary Bond - a more menacing, unlikeable and almost psychotic character. That may be so, but I am more interested in the Bond of the 70s, Roger Moore. The best Bond IMO: the right cocktail of the urbane, exotic jet-set travel and a twist of self-depracating humour.

Craig is straight-off a council estate. Totally unconvincing and my gripe with those who say he is keeping more in line with the literary Bond, is that can you imagine Craig a Naval Commander? He's more of a sergeant and at a stretch and NCO type.

Wasn't the original Bond modelled on Fleming himself?
