I enjoyed your pictorials for Mr. Nino Corvato, the custom tailor for whom you have much admiration and whose clothes you wear so well. I have Mr. Corvato on a short list of tailors I would like to make my first custom suit. I have also come across the names of gentlemen in New York who are not tailors per se but refer to themselves at stylists, who will provide tailoring services for a custom suit. Can you please explain the difference between the two? Thank you.
Adrian Jules does retail too.

Although the prices quoted in the following article aren't up to date,
those who can travel to Rochester can probably
save a bundle by bypassing the NYC middlemen AKA "stylists."

There are some people who are worth going to to learn from. They can save you a lot in the long run. The reason people go to Paul Stuart or J. Press is because the stores have their own look and can dress you well from head to toe and teach you something. The same I imagine is true for H. Herzfeld and Jay Kos. Jay has a great sense of style., and no one beats Ira at H. Herzfeld for an education on how to look stylish and proper. Additionally, Domenico Spano and Alan Flusser's main value is making you look great if you dont have time to mess around. For example, if you are an exec a company and need to improve your image, you can tell these people what you need and they can help you out. Most men dont care who is making the clothes as long as at the end of the day they look both great and powerful (or approachable, whatever the need may be). The few extra thousands you spend come back dressed as millions if you can project the proper image.
There are men like me who are fanatical about clothes and dressing, and then there are men, often succesful ones, who just need someone to put them into the right things without having to spend time researching, thats where a "stylist" adds value.
"Stylists" in the personal shopper/adviser meaning of the term interest me...
... Because I don't quite 'get' how they could help me.
Anybody with any experience here?
Good or bad.
I see style as one man's vision.
If you aren't that man then is it ever YOUR style that comes out the other end?

Stylist: Great spender of others' money.
