I'll be traveling to Italy at the end of this week, having some DJ work to do in Naples on Friday and Salerno on Saturday and Sunday. I fly into Rome around lunch time on the Thursday, giving me a little time for browsing the shops. First stop will be Sergio Nesci. Can any members suggest other small stores worth looking round?

Anything in John Gall's Rome guide for Herb Lester ?
They've been selling very well but I've never opened the packet to have a nosey. Maybe I will tomorrow when I'm in the shop...
That will be some guide that!
JG's favourite subject, filled to the brim with espresso, cappucinos and double espressos laced with a twist of fascist architecture.
^ He's been kidnapped and tortured by the Neapolitan sartorial mafia who mistook him for Mafoofan.
Or Mafoofan himself, who is in with the sartorial mafia - being their biggest bespoke junkie-addict - and now they have their own DJ for their swinging, bespoke, decadent orgies with Mafoofan and Berlusconi leading the bunga-bunga conga-mambo dancing, all the way to the Romanian sweat shops who actually make the bespoke tailoring master works.
Ha!
Comandini is the shop - Via Frattina, 83.
Sounds an amazing place. JG knows his clothes.
Been in there, sells good stuff. I recall Fay being sold in there, its on the main drag from the train station. Maybe a 15-20 minute walk down the hill. Amazing I think is a little strong.
If it was in England or Norway it'd be a real stand out shop, but in Rome its pretty much par for the course. Still a good shop, but theres many like it and better. There is a shop close to the Pal Z store that sells Shetlands, reps and Redford hats that is more Ivy than Italian. Quality buttondowns for between €60-€80 are all over the shops. Soft shouldered jackets are also in all the shops as are knit ties. Its far easier to find smart and stylish clothing on the high street there than in London or Oslo, well more of it anyway. I think though the colours and patterns might be a bit to fashionable for you. Needless to say jackets are darted and duel vented.
Fair comment. Never been & would never want to. I wouldn't even go to Norfolk the other week...
The people of Norfolk were very fortunate...
Back on track, I really recommend the Herb Lester Rome guide. Costs pennies, has a map, has lots of nice quirky info. Pop it in your pocket.
- I almost had a joint venture with Ben Ollins who runs Herb Lester once (JS related). I really wanted him for the gig but I got over-ruled by the finance guy. Then later when the finance guy tried to launch his own gig and asked me to approach Ben for help, Ben turned him down. I had a little laugh over that one, I did.
Nice Cat, Ben. And a nice example of Karma.
Even Fitzgerald's Closet turned down the finance guy afterwards... PMSL.
