Well, is it?
Discuss...
...if you wish.
Nah, inherently Gentist maybe, but certainly not confined to the interwebs.
iGentism is the intersection of social climbing with flower-po- hat relics of the past thrown together. It is dressing without reference or purpose. It is top hat and tails in a mall in rural Alabama. It is pretending you are hereditary aristocracy in a country that neither has nor respects such a thing.
iGentism is that gently plopping sound before one flushes away life's illusions.
I tend to associate iGentism with group think, hero worship, 30s/50s/60s nostalgia, obsession with trivial details and the need for affirmation by posting pics on forums/blogs/Facebook etc.
Sadly, iGentism is now the rule, rather than the exception, on the forums.
I deny that iGentism has any reality once the computer is switched off. And even then it's only for those who buy into the concept/construct online.
To even think in terms of iGentism as a reality is the mark of the iPawn.

Interesting Bish, they're seemed to be all hell let loose on TI over my decon Boglioli jacket when I suggested it was a modern Italian version of Ivy style, type thing. Which, as far as I'm concerned is just a soft shouldered jacket. The rest is just detail. I think perhaps they're is only room for group think for some, though not all. Some got me, some didn't. Not that I gave a toss mind. There was a mid 1960s made in the US madras jacket on ebay that was compared to Boglioli and LBM in its look last week.
Someone was quite rude when I said a BD collar without placket was my choice..."Thats not Ivy, your on the wrong forum" said he. Then others posted pictures of such shirts. Now that begs the question...Has he never worn such a shirt because he doesn't like the look, or because he thinks men didn't wear such a shirt in America during the 50s & &60s? If its the latter he must be a bit of an oddball.
Its all about looking outside the bubble. If you can't do that from what I've seen the detail for these cultish dressers seems to over ride fit and quality of make. I think thats true of mods, skins and Ivy fans.
I'm not sure though if thats Igent or just deluded birds of a feather.
Ivy is a very specific thing. The new zeitgeist on the forum should accommodate you better. Let go of the old & embrace the new !
Yeah, he is a devil for that. Yawn !
I wonder if they are both up for a modern remake of the The Duellists.

I don't have a problem with it, I thinks it's a identifier of the species though.
