Apparently a new, theatrical adaptation is set for release in MMVIII, and is being filmed now.

Oh dear.

This is sure to be aweful.
This working class Flyte, will he be a huff n'puff roughtrade sort of fellow who eschews dandyism in favor of plain clothing and speaks in a rather crude fashion?
A heterosexualised, hyper-masculine unsentimental 2007-era rehash of Waugh.
Brideshead for the Nascar dads. Perhaps the lead characters will be wearing baseball caps as well?
Michael Caine should be cast as Anthony Blanche. With everything else out the window, may as well change his age, too.
For full effect, it should be Mike Meyers in a reprise of his Austin Powers role, but with campy gravitas.

I've always found the role of homosexuality as a high-class English ritual for men interesting.
It was illegal until the '60s and yet almost every upper-class Englishman probably dabbled in it. Lesbianism was not an uncommon theme either at boarding schools.

Homosexuality is a rather competitive sport at times. But instead of trophies there are just memories.
