Thread for the Discussion of Ivy League Clothes

For all the chatter about other forums that discuss everything but THE CLOTHES, most of the threads in the last month here pertaining to "Ivy League Style" are really anything but discussions about THE CLOTHES.

Does anyone care to discuss THE CLOTHES?  Or is there nothing to do here but bash "trad"????

An attempt at a Trad sub-forum on FNB?

Re: Thread for the Discussion of Ivy League Clothes

Aren't there about 30 various threads on the style that are occasionally updated with good info here?

I'm just trying to be nice to our new chum John.

As Tomasso says... I'm gentle & kind.

Re: Thread for the Discussion of Ivy League Clothes

So John, are we supposed to start an endless (and pointless) debate about the merits of the Bills M1 versus M2, and the surprising addition of the M3? That's inside baseball nonsense, and not for intelligent people. They're just pants, for goodness sake. Try them on, and buy the pair that fits you best.

FNB has always been a healthy antidote to the overbearing groupthink on other forums. Think of it as place to learn to think for yourself. And punch some holes in the thoughtlessness that is common elsewhere. So although we talk a lot about stuff that isn't clothes, it's because we tend to just assume that flat-front khakis are kosher, and what the hell else can be said about them?

Re: Thread for the Discussion of Ivy League Clothes

I say let John let off steam over here in the land of the free.
Here he can make his points and only add to any kind of debate that might be going on.
He wants to defend "Trad" & the whole "American Aristocrat" connection maybe...
... Or just chat about shirt collars.
It's all good.

I think you'll find that just like Mr. Trad to the Bone he will make a contribution here.

The more we all talk the better it is.

I admire anybody with strong feelings.

Johnnie Ol Chum,

Ruther than trying to bait ol Terry into debate or throwing flames, perchance you should propose a topic of conversation like a proper "Internet Gentleman".  I think you shall be warmly received, provided you do not propose a Curriculum, forum necktie, or some such.

We do not discuss The Clothes?  Perchance you should look at some ol threads ol sport. For your convenience

Re: Thread for the Discussion of Ivy League Clothes

Oi Calvin -

Back to THE CLOTHES.

You're slacking off here! smile

You've raised "Trad" here yourself. Care to fill us in a little bit more?

What's your take on THE CLOTHES? Feel free to mention social class, etc.

Not to bait you, but just to draw you out a little...

I suspect you're really quite an interesting guy.

For a final shot that's absolutely from the hip, Tony.

I can't add...

I hope John C. will.
