The London sales are, in general, in their last few days.
So what have you bought this year?
My list is as follows
2 x Polo Ralph Lauren seersucker swimming shorts
4 x Sunspel thin jersey polo shirts
4 x Cordings polo shirts
1 x Charles Tyrwhitt's 5 pocket fine cords
1 x Chatham boat shoes from John Rushton
1 x Barbour lightweigt waxed jacket
Alas, I could not find chino shorts with a high rise anywhere.
I hanker for a nice waxed jacket. Maybe this year...
How are the CT cords?
7 Fred perry polo shirts
1 Fred perry Harrington
1 pair red cotton trousers brooks (brothers altered to look less hipster)
1 3 piece nailhead suit Dormeuil Amadeus (own supply)
1 silk and linen suit pale blue 2 piece (own supply)
1 of my own shirts.
Numerous socks by pantherella
About 5 ties from Turnbull
And that was it, not much really.

l'm going to be ordering some navy alligator wholecut shoes soon. Can't freakin' wait. Will be a 9 year dream come true.
I wanted to but the full range of the Keydge jackets at John Simons and the new OCBDs they have on the website - very sadly, when I tried the online store last week, they were out of stock in my size. So I purchase a Fortis Fleiger date-date with a black face and stainless steel hands. A good watch for the holidays and then I will use as my daily work watch.
I also purchased some short-sleeve shirts from an Esty supplier who is well known to the Ivy-heads amongst us - that was on the 21st June, or thereabouts - I'm still waiting!

2 Button-Down Polos
1 Polo Shirt

1 Long Sleeve Polo

Sales have been very good this year, almost all sizes were still available. I don't understand why retailes still buy so much stock. Sales have been the same over the last few years, almost everything went on sale, apart from a few selected items and popular things that sold at full price. Thanks to this year's cold spring it's even worse. One small shop near me started to sell everything with everything 50%-off at the beginning of June. One large chain even sold dufflecoats from last winter they couldn't sell even at over 50-off. That's good for the customers but I can't imagine that the shops can survive on such a business model. Now at the start of the 'real' summer, the shops already carry winter clothes. I think it's ridiculous.
Whenever I intend to buy OTR, I wait for the sales, as the chances are very good that the item is still available. I made the shopping for this years cold season in the January sales and e.g. paid 180€ for two pais of trousers instead of 480. Some things don't go on sale, like scottish cashmere knitwear, but especially the fashions brands are regularly thrown out at 30 to 50% every season. Why are there still people who buy at full price?
Not much from me quantity wise, but some good quality. Mid grey subtle PoW check suit from Poole, plus navy blazer as well. Red gingham h.i.s. shirt and NOS Cricketeer plaid jacket from Hardy & Johnson FB store.
Most of the sales have ended now. I can't understand why some stores, e.g. Cordings, put the prices back up. Surely they would be better off by keeping the sale prices to clear the stock.
Just got a lovely pair of tan chinos and blue hoody from Primark.
I was in Canberra two weeks ago and it was bloody freezing. I was a Vinnies opportunity shop and there was a grey houndstooth Harris tweed jacket on the rack. I thought $30 was a bit steep until I put it on. I now have my all purpose winter jacket. It was hand tailored in Penang and alas ii has padded shoulders and is darted but fits like it was made for me. Even my wife liked it and I couldn't be parted from it for the whole trip The shoulder padding did add to its warmth around my neck especially important given that I have four damaged discs and spondylosis in my neck. A great purchase and my darling wife picked up a crochet beret in 1920/30s style for $4. A good trip by all.
