... And, also, I think it's a mistake to try to equate socio-economic (spelling?) factors with dishonesty.

I rather fancy that yer actual Nobs are far more bent & not to be trusted than yer average 'Street Boy'...

A term now out of date ?

Re: American Differences

There's a new film coming out about Dean Corll, that should suitably horrific, for anyone's taste.

Now there was a rare psycho-killer with his young apprenticeships, unequalled in the annals of psycho-killers elsewhere in the world.

Porn is not filtered by default in America. Neither is violence, smoking, drinking, suicide, nor the occult.

Mornin' !

Up early, it's about 7.30am and I've a few bits to do today. Early night last night - I was tucked in by 10 because I knew I had stuff that wanted doing today.

What time is it with you, Chum ?

Re: American Differences

Sounds good, Mr. fxh. Very hot and sunny here already. Just had me morph & a voddy. Time for the first ciggie of the day & a walk by the harbour. Then shower, bank, solicitors and removal men to deal with. Lunch will be liquid followed by my afternoon nap ready for diner tonight to talk business with Chris Lloyd who thinks I should personally become a company in my own right. I, however, will only do it if somebody else does it all. Me? Work? Shudder!

wink

Have a good afternoon.

Re: American Differences

I actually prefer the stories about those who seem to have it all, but ended up in factory and dead end jobs, or no jobs at all.

Like one of my old mucca's at school who got nine straight A's in his O Levels (back when there were hard) and seemed on the verge of a great destiny, only to end up a ticket collector for British Rail with the only love he could find from imported Thai brides.

Re: American Differences

We have guys like John Cougar Mellencamp, spewing the most inane, blatant, superficial, and cheesy lyrics about good old America in all of his songs.  I love my country, but his songs really make me wince.  Is there a contemporary British counterpart?

Re: American Differences

I know I'm not a mod, but I'll be darned if this argument isn't gonna derail the whole thread...
