actually I think the tie is the last stand between those who dress well and the whelming plebian mob who wear tee shirts and suits and think they are well dressed. I tie my tie and don my cashmere or camelhair coat in the winter. I might throw on a hat for the hell of it. I take my stand, surrounded by the barbarous mob. I never thought Custer was a hero, but I identify with his stand at the Little Big Horn. Did someone just hit me with an arrow?
