Braces are out

The mighty Debenhams only stock one style now.

Re: Braces are out

No self-respecting City executive would set foot in Debenhams. Their merchandise is utterly dire.

I just got a set of burgundy from Thurston, so take that Daily Mail.

Re: Braces are out

I have several pairs of Thurston braces - red in barathea and boxcloth. That will upset the thick chavs who write for and edit the Daily Mail.

Re: Braces are out

I'd imagine that sales of proper (i.e. button-fastening) braces have been very low but stable for decades.

The clip-on sort may fluctuate from time to time I suppose if some fashion buyer takes to them or some boy band is photographed in them.

Re: Braces are out

Of course, most "style" writers miss the main reason for wearing braces - comfort.

Re: Braces are out

I agree with the Bish that the point about braces is comfort. They are hardly glamorous to my eyes - quite the opposite from the suspenders that certain bunnies wear;))

Re: Braces are out

I have to say, I never thought to wear braces as a fashion statement. I am just trying to keep my trousers up.

Re: Braces are out

Tailors tell me that braces are the best for keeping the ol' kecks up 'specially on the more rotund man. Never had a pair.

Personally, If I were to wear braces, I'd have to wear a 3 piece as I'd only be comfortable If I were to remove my jacket with a waistcoat covering them.

I either have belt loops, 2 piece and odd trousers or side adjusters for 3 piece.
