The CIA officially acknowledged the existence of Area 51 yesterday in newly declassified documents obtained by George Washington University's National Security Archive through a public records request. They describe how in 1955, two Air Force officers and two Lockheed employees flew over the Nevada site, decided it would be the perfect place to test the U-2 spy planes they were developing, and got approval from President Eisenhower to use the land. The report makes no mention of aliens, so it's obviously just a Cold War-era testing site that they refused to discuss for the next 58 years.
I'll wait for shoomans take on it thanks...
Lets see how deep this rabbit hole goes..
I want to get into the spirit of this.
Do I fold my tinfoil into the shape of a fedora or a beret?
Isn't it widely known that Area 51 exists? The nearest town is Rachel, Nevada and it pretty much trades off of Alien tourism.
You can go down the military dirt road so far but at a certain point there's a sign and a lookout camera on a hill and if you pass it you're apprehended in a minute.
The only real disputed thing as far as I know is the Alien crash site thing.
Yeah everyone knows it exists, its just the US government have never admitted it until now.
They have. It's officially called Groom Lake but in official correspondence it has been frequently called Area 51. That's admission surely?
Did you read this in a news article Armchaired?

Hmmm. Well I guess it's an official announcement then.
I'll be honest and say I've dug into declassified memo's when I was younger. Probably stoned and on a conspiracy tip.
I guess that's how I know and just assumed it was all in the open anyway.
Here's the form letter the USAF used to send out when people (Shooey?) would write asking about 'Area 51' (note the date).

And here's a CIA document from 1967 referring to Groom Lake as 'Area 51'.

Ooo. Those lying swine.
I suppose they cleverly answered that guy. Danced around him. Hard to tell without seeing the initial letter he sent.
I've definitely seen other 'top secret' memos like that one. Some were a bit weird. No aliens mentioned obviously.
Virginia Walters? Never heard of her.
Lives just outside Windsor
^ I shall make it my mission to visit this place and get the skinny on what the heck is going on!
The truth is out there.
